First of all: the air pressure today in Heerenveen is 1022 mB, pretty high. We see the same skaters as yesterday; Tamara Oudenaarden will skate alone in the first pair. Sang-Hwa Lee is only 6 points behind Marianne Timmer, and they will battle for the third place overall; possibly with Kajkan and Yoshii.
Draw: 1. Tamara Oudenaarden alone. 11,10 is her opener, long slow strokes bring her 40,35, slightly faster than yesterday. 2. Ingeborg Kroon - Kerry Simpson, Simpson gets the opener in 11,07 and stays ahead, finishes in 39,70 against Kroon 39,99. 3. Svetlana Radkevich - Shannon Rempel. First sub-11 openers, 10.80 Radkevich and 10.92. Misstroke for Radkevich in the homestraight, even so she is faster than yesterday, 39,74. Rempel 39,17 is in the lead now. 4. Elli Ochowicz - Shihomi Shinya 10,47 for Shinya, Ochowicz 10,89. But as usual these days Shinya cannot keep it up, Ochowicz takes thios pair in 39,21, Shinya 39,81. 5. Pamela Zöllner - Sayuri Osuga. False start, inner lane. Zöllner and Hesse are in a battle for the third Nagano spot, here Osuga opens 10,72 - 10,95 for the German who cannot copy her good lap for yesterday. 39,66, Osuga slightly faster than yesterday, 39,24. Rempel still in the lead. 6. Judith Hesse - Nao Kodaira: 10,47 for the good 100 m skater Hesse, same opener as Shinya. 10.82 for Kodaira, the Japansese gets closer but cannot quite make up the distance. 39,23 for Hesse, 39,25. Hesse qualifies now. 7. Julia Nemaya - Shuang Zhang. 10,75 for Zhang, but falls immediately afterwards. She lies with her head close to the boarding. Nemaya 39,26, everybody so close together in the times. The Chinese back on her feet, seems like she may have hurt her hand. She does not finish. 8. Svetlana Kajkan - Sayuri Yoshii. 10,6 for both! Even pair, but Kajkan has a higher rhythm. Number one and two at this point, and first sub-39: Kajkan 38,82, 39,09 for Yoshii. 9. Annette Gerritsen - Marianne Timmer. False start for Gerritsen, then another false start. One of them is out. Red flag - it is Timmer! Her podium chances are gone. Gerritsen's first false start was bad for her teammate. 10,64 for Gerritsen, final time 39,12 disappointing. 10. Sang-Hwa Lee - Jenny Wolf. The Korean should have good chances for the overall podium now, Wolf of course has won the World Cup already. 10,31 for Wolf not quite as fast as yesterday but still the fastest, Lee 10,56. Wolf does not pull that far ahead, and 38,32 is indeed not a perfect race for Wolf - her lap 0,4 slower than yesterday. It still does the trick, though! Sang-Hwa Lee 38,70 is second on the distance. 1. Wolf 38,32, 2. Sang-Hwa Lee 38,70, 3.Kajkan 38,82. Final World Cup points: Wolf 1460, Gerritsen 928, Sang-Hwa Lee 714. |
