Saturday, 17 November 2007
Five more pairs, in each a Dutchman. First Bob de Jong in outer lane, Odd B. Borgersen inner. Opening for Bob is fast, 18,73 and 28.7. Next lap 9.3. Peter Kolder is coaching him, Bart Schouten is his coach but is not allowed on the ice.

Bob continues fast, with 29.4 laps, two, then 9.2. Borgersen skates low 30s. De Jong again 29.3. This guy is Olympic champion, but not on this distance. he shouldn't die on this distance, though. He passes in 3000m in 3.43,58, with 9.2 Borgersen 3.50.99. with 0.8. De Jong continues with 9.5, 9.5, 9.8, Borgersen loses 2 seconds per lap. 9.8 lap now. Final time is a personal best for Bob de Jong, 6.12,16. Borgersen looks desillusioned, 6.28,35 in 1.0. It wasn't cosy for him.

Next pair, Tom Prinsen and Tobias Schneider. Schneider was good last week, rank 8, after a period of bad luck. Both open 19.2. Prinsen then has two 9.9 laps, Schneider 0.5 and 0.2. Again 9.9 for Prinsen, now Schneider 9.6. If you want that, I can do that, too, thinks Prinsen and has a 9.5 lap, Schneider 0.0. Prinsen has an even faster lap next, 9.3, Schneider 9.7. Prinsen 9.4, he is now second behind De Jong. Schneider 0.2. Prinsen passes in 3:47.01, lap 9.6. Schneider 3:50.17. Laps then 9.9/0.8, 9.9/1.1, 9.9again, if he continues like that, Prinsen skates around his pb. Schneider has a hard time, 1.3. Then 0.4 / 1.4. Prinsens finishes in 6:17.89 (last lap 0.5), the second time, just a bit slower than his pb. Schneider finishes in 6:26.19 (last lap 1.2)

Carl Verheijen is the next Dutchman, Arne Dankers is of Dutch origin, the Canadian opens fast, with a 8.9 first lap, but Verheijen is faster.  18.85, 8.3, 8.7, 9.0, 9.4, 9.2, he is a bit below the WR pace. But there, the last laps were faster even. 9.2 again for Verheijen and with a 9.3 he approaches the 3000m, 3.42,19. Dankers is also fast, 3.46,24. Net, Verheijen has a 9.5 lap, slower than the WR, but maybe a pb to come. 9.4, with Dankers 9.8 and 9.7. 9.6 Verheijen, 0.0 Dankers. Verheijen will probably just miss his pb. He continues 9.8 and 0.5, finishes in the fastest time so far, 6:11,15. Arne Dankers continues 0.1 and 0.0, his race was very flat, and he finishes in 6:16.10, two seconds above his pb as well.

Sven Kramer wants his world record back. He races again with Bøkko, but he starts so fast that Bøkko won't see much of him. His opening is 17.74, then 28.1, 28.5, 8.5, while Bøkko does 8.6 and low 29s. 8.3 is next for Kramer, 8.6, 8.6, enormous advantage to the old WR, 5 seconds, and a WR3000 of 3.37,15. Then 8.5, 9.1, 9.2, 9.5, and the new world record after 9.5 is 6:03.32. Laps between 8.1 and 9.5. It brings him to the lead of the Adelskalender.
Bøkko had a good race, personal best, all 29 laps, 6:12.28 is his time. Sorry that we didn't notice you :-)

Fabris opens faster than Kramer. With laps 7.9 and 8.3 he is at 1000m 0.01 faster than Kramer. Fabris continues 8.7, 8.7, 9.0, while his opponent Wouter Olde Heuvel does well with middle 29s. Fabris does 9.1 then and 9.2 passing 3000m at 3.39,34, Olde Heuvel3.44,67. Can Enrico go faster? It seems unlikely. 9.0, 9.3, an Italian record maybe, not Sven's time. 9.2, 9.7 and 9.7 brings a new Italian record, 6.06,42, Olde Heuvel improves himself to 6:16.26, another pb.

Kramer, Fabris, Verheijen, De Jong, Bøkko, Dankers, Olde Heuvel. Kramer and Fabris have the joint lead in the World Cup, Verheijen follows.
