The Junior World Championships started today in Innsbruck, Austria. There were participants from 22 countries: 45 girls from 21 countries, including Slovakia, Hungary and Belgium that only sent one woman, and 51 men from 19 countries, including Sweden, that only sent men. Estonians had wanted to come, but didn't make the qualifying time. In the ladies' 500m, there were 11 personal bests, among which one NR for Slovakia: Renata Karabova 46.20. In the men's 500m we saw 19 pbs. Results will be given for registered users. |

First pair: Julia Yasyonok (BLR) and Alexandra Lipp (GER). Lipp shows a pretty flat race with mainly 36 laps and finishes in 7:35.86. Yasyonok starts faster but finishes with two 39 laps, and only does 7:45.81. |

"This was a total surprise for me. It was about time I left the region of 13:30, but to find the right opportunity is not always easy. I was not so alert today. (Dutch: 'duf') I forgot my racing suit, I discovered during the warming up. And my legs didn't feel good at that point. Also not during the first part of the race, but the 31 laps just kept coming."
