In the Globe and Mail, a Canadian news paper, there was an article about Neal Marshall being missed as a a coach. His former coach Ingrid Paul was hired apparently to get more out the long distance potential of someone like Arne Dankers. The plan was to have Marshall work with a bigger number of skaters, but Marshall couldn't find himself in the restructuring plans of program director Finn Halvorsen.

Oscar for Wotherspoon

Jeremy Wotherspoon has been awarded the skating Oscar for the 2007-2008 season, for his "extraordinary dominance" on the 500 m, with particular emphasis on his World Record of 34.03 and his large margin of victory in the World Single Distances Championships.
