Today, Oct. 12, Jacques de Koning won the 1000m races to qualify for the Dutch Single Distance Championships, where he could earn a place in the World Cup team. His time was 1:11.13. Also Sjoerd de Vries, Jan Smeekens, Alexander Oltrop and Freddy Wennemars were among the skaters quaified as the results on left side of the page show. On the 1000m ladies, Sanne van der Star did not start and would need grace from the board to participate on that distance. She was prequalified on the 500m. Ingeborg Kroon was the fastest on this distance. In the magazine section of this site is a practical summary of the qualification rules.
On the 3000m ladies, Jorien Voorhuis was the fastest. Moniek Kleinsman finished 12th. The first 10 directly qualify, but she and Foske Tamar van der Wal (11) may be among the two skaters that will be appointed by the board. Among the qualifyers is Daniëlle Bekkering, an excellent marathon skater, but also a good short track skater once. |
